Where can you park and where not?

Here's everything you need to know about parking rules to avoid fines, towing, or extra charges.

Updated this week

Where you are allowed to park

Inside Poppy zones

  • You can start and end your trip in any legal public parking spot within a Poppy zone.

  • Public parking is free, even in permit-only areas. Except in red zones (commercial areas, clearly shown in the app), do not park in red zones at the end of your trip.

  • Use the app to see Poppy zone borders. If they’re not immediately visible, zoom out.

Outside Poppy zones

  • You can temporarily park outside the Poppy zone at your own cost (e.g. during your trip).

  • You cannot end your trip outside the Poppy zone.

Vans

  • Poppy vans have specific parking zones (in Antwerp) and specific parking spots (in Brussels) clearly marked in the app.

  • Only end your trip with a van in these designated areas.

Where you are not allowed to park

Never park in these places, doing so may result in fines or towing at your expense:

  • Delivery areas

  • Kiss & Ride zones

  • Truck, bus, or school bus zones

  • Taxi stands

  • Market zones

  • Private garages or driveways

  • Disabled parking spots ♿️

  • Supermarket/private parking lots 🛒

  • Bus stops

  • Parking reserved for non-Poppy car sharing services

  • Red zones (shown in app)

  • Rijnkaai or Plantinkaai in Antwerp

🚫 Temporary & permanent parking bans

Temporary bans (movable signs, e.g. roadworks or markets)

  • If a restriction starts within 48 hours after you parked and a fine is issued → you are responsible.

  • After 48h, you're still responsible for any fine or towing as long as the vehicle hasn’t moved.

Permanent bans (fixed signs)

  • These are always active.

  • Even if a fine comes after 48h, it’s your responsibility.

⚠️ Poppy is not responsible for moving vehicles or ensuring another user picks up the car within 48 hours.

🚗 Special parking rules

  • Underground parking is not allowed, even in the Poppy zone, due to connectivity issues.

    • Exception: partner Interparkings at the yellow car-sharing spots (visible in the app).

  • No private parkings, unless it's a listed partner location (visible in the app).

  • Blue card zones: Poppy cars do not have a blue card.

    • To park here, you must pause your trip and use your own card.

Blue zones in Brussels (Berchem-Sainte-Agathe)

Parking disc required Mon–Sat, 9:00–21:00 in:

  • Place Schweitzer (incl. public parking near Chaussée de Gand/Rue Openveld)

  • Avenue Josse Goffin (1–9)

  • Town Hall parking (Avenue du Roi Albert 33–47)

⚠️ Important reminders

  • Always check signs before parking.

  • Never park where a restriction or ban is active, even temporarily.

  • You are responsible for all fines, towing costs, or fees resulting from improper parking.

  • If Poppy needs to relocate the vehicle due to incorrect parking, you will be charged extra.

By following these rules, you help keep the Poppy service fair, reliable, and available for all users. Thanks for parking smart! ✅
