❓ You received a fine from the police — what now?
If you receive a fine by post, it means the police recorded an infraction during a ride with Poppy. Poppy’s role is limited to sharing the legally required driver information with the authorities.
The fine is handled entirely by the Federal Public Service (FPS).
📩 You got an email but haven’t received your fine by post yet?
If you received a fine notification by email from Poppy, it means your name was identified as the person responsible for the fine. The fine will be sent to your home address by post—this may take several weeks or even months.
Poppy does not send the fine itself, and we’re not involved in the timeline after the notification.
💻 Can I view the fine online?
Yes, if your eBox is activated, the fine will appear there a few days after it’s processed by the FPS. This is the only official online way to view or pay the fine.
Please note: it can take some time before the fine appears in your eBox, so there’s no need to worry if it’s not visible yet.
💡 Even non-Belgian EU residents can use their local login methods (such as Itsme) to access their eBox.
💳 How do I pay the fine?
Once you receive the letter (by post or via eBox), it will contain all the necessary payment details. Simply follow the instructions provided in the official document.
⚠️ An administrative fee will be charged by Poppy to your linked payment method for handling the legal processing.
🏠 You no longer live at the address on your Poppy account?
Unfortunately, once the fine has been submitted to the FOD, the address cannot be changed. You may need to retrieve the letter from your old address or speak to the current resident.
✅ Please make sure to update your address in your Poppy account to avoid issues in the future.
🔎 Your address doesn’t exist or isn’t valid?
If we can’t verify a valid address, the fine will be sent to our office. In that case, Poppy will pay it upfront to avoid extra charges, and you’ll receive an invoice by email for the full fine amount + the administrative fee.
This amount will be automatically charged to your linked payment method.
⚖️ What if I want to dispute the fine?
Disputes must be handled directly with the FPS, once you receive the official fine.
All necessary information (PV/system number, payment reference, and contact info) will be in the fine letter.
💡 Poppy cannot assist with disputes or influence the fine decision.
