Why are you being charged during your trip?

Here’s everything you need to know about interval payments, and why we charge them.

Updated this week

💳 What are interval payments?

Interval payments are charges applied while your trip is ongoing.

  • We charge each time your usage exceeds €100

  • With a prepaid package, you’ll only be charged an interval payment if your package runs out and you drive for more than €100 extra

  • Every interval payment is deducted from your final invoice, so you never pay twice

🤔 Why do we charge interval payments?

We use interval payments to:

  • Check that funds are available on your linked payment method

  • Reduce the risk of unpaid invoices

  • Protect our vehicles from misuse

⏰ When are interval payments charged?

Interval payments are automatically charged on the payment method linked to your Poppy account.

  • Trips on the 'Pay as you go' rate: Each time you cross the €100 threshold

  • Trips on a Prepaid Package: you’ll only be charged an interval payment if your package runs out and you drive for more than €100 extra

❌ What happens if an interval payment fails?

If we cannot process a payment:

  1. You’ll receive multiple alerts via the app, sms and email

  2. If the payment still fails, we are required to pause or even end your trip until the payment is made

This keeps our vehicles safe and ensures fairness for all users.
